Atelier Pfister Collection 2013

Project Type: Textile design / collection
Client: PFISTER, Atelier Pfister
Design: Annette Douglas
Curator: Alfredo Häberli

Project Overview
The Atelier Pfister Collection is exclusively created by established and emerging Swiss designers and curated by internationally renowned Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli. Since 2010, Annette Douglas has contributed as a designer to the collection. Her work reflects a clear design statement: the beauty of high-quality materials combined with refined design to enhance everyday living and quality of life.

Design Process
Annette Douglas develops her ideas through physical experimentation using paper and textile models. Working with needle and thread, brush and colour, folds and creases, she explores form, structure and material behaviour. These handcrafted studies serve as conceptual tools and provide the foundation for the later industrial realisation of the textiles.

Material and Design Language
Like the 2011 edition, the 2013 collection is defined by a refined and contemporary design language characterised by clarity, simplicity and precision. The fabrics are produced from high-quality natural fibres such as cotton and wool, offering a tactile and durable material quality. A significant portion of the textiles is manufactured in Switzerland, reinforcing the connection between contemporary design and local production traditions. The names of the designs reference places in the home cantons of the participating designers, creating a strong Swiss identity within the collection. Annette Douglas’ fabrics for the 2013 edition carry the names “Fischenthal,” “Blüemlisalp,” “Bauma,” and “Seen.”
