Project Overview
For one of the world’s leading technology companies located in central Zurich, Fletcher Priest Architects developed the interior design concept “Project Heidi.” The project reflects the company’s ambition to create highly creative and thoughtfully designed workplaces that attract and support talented employees. The design concept interprets the surrounding Swiss landscape as an interior experience. Each floor references regional terrain and outdoor activities, translating natural environments into spatial narratives throughout the office. More than 50 meeting rooms distributed across eight floors form a central part of the concept, creating diverse and immersive working environments.
Acoustic Challenge
Meeting rooms required balanced acoustics to support focused discussions, collaboration and confidentiality within an active office environment. At the same time, acoustic solutions needed to contribute to the strong visual identity of each space without compromising design coherence.
Acoustic Solution
Annette Douglas Textiles developed customised printed acoustic curtains using WHISPER classic, tailored to the individual themes of each meeting room. Every room features a unique landscape-inspired design conceived by Fletcher Priest Architects, referencing activities such as fishing, skiing, paragliding and snowboarding. Each curtain functions as both an acoustic element and a visual narrative, with no repeating motifs — making the project a complex logistical and production achievement. The translucent acoustic curtains allow natural daylight to enter the spaces while improving speech intelligibility and acoustic comfort. At the same time, the textiles are flame-retardant, fulfilling stringent safety requirements for contemporary workplace environments, and integrate seamlessly into the architectural and artistic concept.
