InterContinental Hotel Davos
acoustic curtain STREAMER classic 300
Project Type: Hospitality / hotel restaurant
Location: Davos, Switzerland
Architecture: Oikios Architects, Munich / Matteo Thun Architects, Milan
Application: Acoustic curtains in restaurant spaces
Product: STREAMER classic (αw 0.8)
Project Overview
With its futuristic façade shaped like a “golden egg,” the InterContinental Hotel Davos opened in 2013 above Lake Davos. Designed by Matteo Thun and Oikios Architects, the landmark building combines expressive architecture with panoramic alpine views. The restaurant Capricorn, characterised by floor-to-ceiling glazing, is flooded with natural daylight and offers expansive views of the surrounding mountains.
Acoustic Solution
Transparent acoustic curtains made from STREAMER classic (αw 0.8) were installed to enhance the restaurant environment. The translucent textiles allow daylight to flow freely into the space while significantly improving room acoustics and creating a warm, atmospheric ambience. The acoustic curtains integrate discreetly into the architectural concept and are flame-retardant, fulfilling safety requirements for hospitality environments.
Application
- transparent acoustic curtain STREAMER classic
- sound absorption coefficient αw 0.8
- installation in restaurant areas
- preservation of daylight and panoramic views
- improved acoustic comfort in hospitality spaces
- flame-retardant textile suitable for hotel environments
Architectural Impact
The project demonstrates how textile acoustic solutions can enhance hospitality architecture by balancing acoustic performance, atmosphere and visual openness.
Textile acoustic solutions by Annette Douglas Textiles improve room acoustics, are flame-retardant, and preserve architectural transparency and design intent.
